ABOUT ME

When we left the Netherlands in 2015 and moved to Switzerland the first time I had an eight year old son, a five year old daughter and a newborn and I followed my husband who had a great career opportunity there. I was still on my maternity leave and figured, well, I will just extend my maternity leave a bit, that might be nice and relaxing. Wrong! I found myself being a stay at home mum, with three children in a new country, a school in a language the kids couldn’t speak, a husband who was travelling all.the.time, oh and a very nervous dog.

I can totally admit now that that first year was one of the hardest years of my life. The endless days in a foreign country, without support system, childcare, trustworthy babysitters or a job to go to.

What I also found out that being a stay at home mum was so much harder than I ever imagined. I quickly realised I needed more tools to deal with all the emotions, feelings, questions, tantrums (both theirs and mine). Whenever I had the time I read about communication with children, how a child’s brain works, how they develop and I studied numerous parenting tools en methods.

I educated myself in child coaching, parental coaching, triple P, How to talk to kids and How to talk to little kids by doing all kinds of online and offline courses, workshops and training. I discovered Positive Discipline and became a certified Positive discipline Parent Educator.

And now I organise Positive Discipline workshops and training based on the "How to talk so kids will listen" method. I also provide one on one coaching. I am by no means a parenting expert, but I have learnt that it helps so much to step back once in a while and reflect on how things are going in my house and family, how reassuring it is to try and learn new things and see that they work and how much calmer and peaceful our house has been since that. And you can have that too, just contact me.
