What do parents say about the courses?

I always feel a bit sentimental at the end of a course. Parents share so much during the courses and I do too. Talking to them every week, going with them through the Positive Discipline journey, listening to their successes and their challenges. Positive Discipline is also a lot about how we, as parents, were brought up by our parents and how this affects our daily parenting style, therefor there is always a lot of sharing about everyone's childhood, role models and ingrained beliefs. In only 6 weeks you get very close to everyone, so saying goodbye after that is sometimes a bit hard.

We end the courses with The Ball of Yarn, where we share our experiences over the last period and throw a (in case of online sessions imaginary) ball of yarn to one another, creating a web of connection, which is always a beautiful moment.

Some of the things parents attending my courses said, among other things, were:

"I always thought that parenting is something that anyone can do immediately, however this Positive Discipline course taught me a lot and made me realise that there is even more to learn. I am really grateful for this."

"This training was for me a great source of information. I am applying these techniques every day and there is a visible change in the way I connect with my children. My husband and close family are now adjusting to this because it makes us all happier and more engaged."

"My husband and I opted to do a couple Positive Discipline sessions one on one and boy, what a difference they have made. As parents we are more appropriately equipped with techniques and the framework to help our children navigate their childhood using age-appropriate language and support. We were able to augment our parenting repertoire in a way that we are more conscientious about the language we use and how we pose questions to our children so they, too, can think about their approaches to daily life. I would recommend sessions to anyone looking to support and enable their children to be more well-rounded, thoughtful, and self-driven individuals."

"I'm so glad I followed the workshops. I really enjoyed it. It gave me the tools that I needed in daily life to handle difficult situations with my kids. Before I would just yell at them, or threaten with punishment, which was of no use at all. It was often a vicious circle: I would get upset because the kids did not listen to me, and then the kids get upset, ... Now I know that there are much better alternatives than yelling or punishing that actually work. I'm much calmer with my kids, have more patience, try to listen carefully what they need and above all I try to acknowledge their feelings. Of course, not everything is easy now. It is really hard to communicate differently with the kids and not to use my previous behaviour of handling stressful situations, but now at least I know what went wrong and that I can handle it better the next time."
