Yes Day!

If you are in need of suggestions for a family movie night you might be planning over the upcoming Eater weekend I can highly recommend watching Yes Day as a family. We watched it yesterday night and it was absolutely hilarious!

It’s about a family who decides to have a Yes Day for their children. A day where the parents commit themselves to saying yes to everything the children ask or plan for. As expected from a proper Hollywood film, everything gets out of control at some point, but in the end everything will be alright again and an important lesson is learnt by all…

Anyway, having a Yes-day is a brilliant plan regardless of you have seen the movie or not (pretty sure the movie will put you off..). We have it about two times a year. We don’t call it a Yes Day though, it is a "Olaf, Meintje and Florien-Day". A day where the kids can decide what to have for breakfast, lunch and dinner, what activities to do, what movie to watch, what time to get up or go to bed. Also, they always get a small budget which they can spend on an activity or on toys. Key point of the "Olaf, Meintje and Florien-Day" is that they decide together. So they have to make a plan for this day together and they all have to agree to the plan. A great way to train their negotiating and cooperation skills! And yes, I will not lie about this, this day has been born out of massive parent-guild of moving them to a foreign country.

Have fun on your Yes Day this Spring break or Easter weekend!
